The launch of fingertip pulse oximeter Rainbow has proved disappointing thus far for Masimo (. But it's hoping that a new device which just received a CE mark, will fare better. It's a wireless fingertip pulse oximeter that is compatible with smart phones and tablets, enabling physicians to track up to 12 hours of data remotely via these smart devices. The MightySat tracks oxygen saturation (SpO2), pulse rate (PR), the Perfusion Index (PI), and the Pleth Variability Index (PVI) via the same Masimo oximeter tech already widely in use, the SET Measure-Through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry technology. The PI monitors the arterial pulse strength, while PVI is a measure of the dynamic changes in the perfusion index that occur over one or more complete respiratory cycles.
